DEPARTMENT OF KNITTING TECHNOLOGY

The course was pioneered by EIT Polytechnic College under World Bank Project in the year 1993 -94 with an intake of 30 students to cater the needs of Knitted Garment Export Industries for trained technicians in the field of Knitting and Garment Manufacture and first of its kind in South India. The curriculum includes knitting, garment making and chemical processing of knitted goods in addition to the fiber science, spinning and weaving subjects. The students are given hands on experience to operate knitting and garment machines in the sophisticated and well equipped laboratory. Apart from the class room and laboratory training the students are provided a short term internship during the semester vacations in Knitting and Garment Manufacturing Export Industries. The Students are taken to Industrial Visits, Technology Exhibitions, Seminars and Trade Fairs organized by various Textile Organizations during their academic study.

KNITTING LAB

Knitting lab is equipped with Single Jersey, SJ Two Track, Rib and Interlock Circular Knitting Machines and Lab model smallest diameter circular knitting machines. Flat knitting machine for the production of collar and sweater preparation is provided. Socks Knitting machine is provided for the production of Socks and stockings. Apart from the machines GSM cutter, Course length tester equipments also provided for estimating the GSM and loop length of the knitted fabric.

GARMENT LAB

Our Garment Lab is equipped with Pattern making Tools, Cutting Table and sewing machines of all kinds. Sewing Lab consists of Lockstitch, Three thread and five thread over-lock, flat-lock, Elastic (Rib) attachment, Fashion maker and Computerized Lock stitch sewing machines. Apart from this Pattern Making, Grading, and Marker Planning Software are available in the Garment CAD Lab.

Our alumni who constitute the major share of Mill Owners, Garment Exporters and leading Industrialists augment very well the importance of this course.
